"Caring for the Environment Has Never Been More Important"
TREEmendous Miami Welcomes You!
At TREEmendous Miami we’re planting, promoting, and protecting trees in Miami-Dade County. We believe in taking action with urgency in order to raise public awareness about one of the most pressing issues facing today’s society: climate change. Please join us by supporting our efforts to make a measurable difference in the lives of others through volunteering and advocating for the preservation of trees, natural environments, and green spaces throughout the county.
Who We Are
Here at TREEmendous Miami, we are driven by a single goal; to do our part in making the world a better, greener place for all by planting trees. We are a volunteer-based group that was established as a Florida not-for-profit corporation in January, 1999. It initially took root and prospered as the result of the efforts of dedicated tree lovers who had previously volunteered in the City of Miami Beautification Committee and in Trees for Dade. We are proud to have planted over 27,000 trees during our first 20 years as we also enlisted the help of many thousands of volunteers from the community. TREEmendous Miami volunteers learn lifelong skills in tree planting and maintenance, as well as about the importance of trees to a healthy environment. We work hard to educate citizens on how to properly plant and care for a tree, and why trees are important, as well as to provide trees to diverse neighborhoods in the county. We hope to recruit more members and grow our tree hugging community to make Miami a TREEmendous place for all!
Projects
TREEmendous Miami is achieving more with our initiatives than ever before. We work on many exciting projects to help improve the lives of others, and are very proud of the progress we continue to make. Learn more about what we do, who we help, and how we work every day to promote positive change.
FIU Nature Preserve
We have worked MANY hours to remove exotics and performed other maintenance work needed to establish new canopy in the FIU Nature Preserve. Volunteers from UM, FIU, Barry, Miami Dade County College, and Mast Academy have come to help us with this project to help restore this endangered habitat and to increase environmental value and beauty of the site.
Restoration of Historic Virginia Key Park
During the last 13 years, TREEmendous Miami has planted over 13,000 trees at Virginia Key Park, a historic beach for POC. We've planted and established a native, maritime hammock that was before neglected and destroyed. This has been one of the most important environmental projects TREEmendous has took on.
Trees That Feed
One of TREEmendous' latest project, we are working to introducing fruit and native trees to homeowners in underserved, low-income neighborhoods with low tree equity scores. Our goal is to increase these area's tree canopy and to provide fresh, nutritious food for those who participate in the program by planting these trees.
Photographing landscape has been my love for 45 years. I have been fortunate to see so much beauty in my life. I'd like future photographers to have that joy too. In order for that to happen, we need to pay attention to the health of our environment. The beauty and peace it provides us can not be measured in dollars.
